Why work for us?

We believe in looking after our employees and are dedicated to providing them with a safe, supportive and fair working environment across all areas of the company.

Some of our people have progressed from trainee to middle management in fewer than five years while a previous junior employee went on to become the managing director of our Provident home credit business. If you’re enthusiastic and hard working with a real desire for success, together we can maximise your talent.

We also offer the opportunity to work in a challenging and fast-paced environment where you’ll be supported and encouraged every step of the way. We demand a high level of performance from our people, and we reward them accordingly.

Our business has been evolving since 1880, and we’re excited about our future. Could you be a part of it? Our employee policies focus on four main areas:

Equality and diversity

We work in a number of different communities and it is very important that our workforce reflects the diversity of our customer base.

We realise that it is of strategic importance to attract and retain a diverse workforce and ensure that equal opportunities underpin our recruitment, employment, training and remuneration practices.

We are a corporate member of the Business Forum on Disability, which enables us to access best practice advice and support on a range of business disability issues and improve our performance in this area.

Health and safety

We have created a number of working groups to ensure that the health and safety of our employees is given the highest priority.

Both the Consumer Credit Division and Vanquis Bank have health and safety working groups that report directly to the Provident Financial board. These groups oversee the implementation of policy and provide strategic direction to management.

Training and development

We offer a range of training and development opportunities to help each of our employees maximise their potential, whatever their role.

From your first day working with us, our comprehensive induction programme will help you settle into your new role, and you’ll also receive regular performance management reviews and appraisals so that you can monitor your career progress.

We actively encourage our employees to take further education courses and to study for relevant professional qualifications – because providing opportunities to learn and develop not only benefits our employees, but our business too

Benefits and rewards

We like to let our employees know that we appreciate their hard work and offer competitive salaries and a range of reward schemes.

All employees are eligible to join a pension scheme and after six months service can join our ‘Save as you Earn’ and 'Buy as you Earn' schemes.
