It’s National Numeracy Day today and we’re proud to be a Lead Supporter for the third year running, helping the nation build confidence with numbers.

It’s not all about algebra and trigonometry, we’re talking about skills that aren’t always taught at school such as budgeting, understanding financial terminology such as interest rates or spotting the best deal on the market. And as a financial services business we have a responsibility to ensure our colleagues communicate and explain the terms of a product clearly and the customer understands, so that they can protect or build their credit score. But to do that they each require basic numeracy skills. And this is why we have teamed up with National Numeracy.

Being good with numbers isn’t a special talent, it’s something we can all get better at. And in these unprecedented times we want to provide extra support to our customers, colleagues and their families who are helping children to learn at home, or who want to improve their own self-confidence with numbers.

The National Numeracy Challenge is a free online tool designed to help people understand their current numeracy level and receive free and tailored support for any areas they need to improve. Anyone can take part at any time.
