CR reporting

We report annually on our CR performance for a variety of reasons. Firstly, because we want to share our progress and hold ourselves accountable to targets and objectives, and secondly, to encourage and share best practice in our industry.

The group’s annual CR reports are subject to independent assurance which evaluates the nature and extent of their adherence to the Accountability 100 Assurance Standard (AA1000AS) principles of inclusivity, materiality and responsiveness. The reports are also prepared in accordance with the core option of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards Guidelines. Provident Financial Group’s 2017 CR report was assured by the independent sustainability management consultancy, Corporate Citizenship. An assurance statement is set out on page 68 of the 2017 CR report and the group’s 2017 GRI index is available here

Although our CR report is our main method of reporting our progress and activities, another important element of reporting for us is to sustainability indices and other measurable submissions that the Socially Responsible Investment (SRI) community is interested in. Across the year, we receive requests to contribute our data to a variety of benchmarking and investor relations initiatives which we endeavour to fulfil, however, we have identified the below indices as the most relevant to our business and ensure to submit to these annually.

  • Dow Jones Sustainability Indices
  • Carbon Disclosure Project
