Provident Financial’s annual report success

Provident Financial's annual report has been named as the best in the FTSE 250 at the Investor Relations Society's Best Practice Awards 2009.

Over 400 guests from the finance industry attended the prestigious ceremony, which was held at the Royal Hospital Gardens in Chelsea on Thursday 26th November 2009. Following a gala dinner, the awards were hosted by Justin Webb, presenter of Radio 4's ‘Today' programme. Provident received the accolade for the most effective FTSE 250 annual report (printed and online) and was also shortlisted for the Best Practice Corporate website (FTSE 250) award.

The judges were most impressed with the clean, user-friendly design of Provident's report, and commented that many FTSE 100 companies could learn from the way it communicated its strategy, KPIs and performance. Provident's success at the awards is particularly impressive as 2008 marked the company's first venture into producing an online version of its annual report and financial statements.

Andrew Fisher, Finance Director at Provident Financial, commented:

"This is the most prestigious award that can be won for an annual report. It is very important to us that our communications with the investor community are as effective and accessible as possible, which is why we made the decision to produce our first online version of the annual report.  The award recognises our success in achieving this, and we are absolutely delighted to have won."
