Awards and recognition
We continue to be represented on the main global sustainability indexes and respond to requests to share information on our corporate responsibility programme.
This is an important aspect of our CR programme as it provides investors and other stakeholder groups with demonstrable evidence of our commitment to operating our business in a responsible manner.
FTSE4Good
We have been included in the FTSE4Good index since 2003. The index measures the performance of companies that meet globally recognised corporate responsibility standards, and facilitates investment in those companies.
Dow Jones Sustainability indexes
We have been selected for membership of the Dow Jones Sustainability indexes for the World (DJSI World) and Europe (DJSI STOXX) each year since 2005. DJSI annually benchmarks the sustainable development performance of major global companies through an assessment by the SAM Group rating agency and selects the top ‘sustainability leaders’ for inclusion in the indexes.
BITC Corporate Responsibility Index
We make annual submissions to the Business in the Community (BITC) Corporate Responsibility Index, which is a voluntary, business-led benchmark of responsible business practice and acts as a management tool to help ensure continuous improvement in CR practices.
Carbon Disclosure Project
We also respond to the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) survey, which provides institutional investors with information on a combined $57 trillion of assets under management on the business risks and opportunities presented by climate change and greenhouse gas emissions from the world’s largest companies.
Oekom Corporate Rating
We have been awarded a 'Prime' rating by Oekom research. This recognises our status as a leading organisation within our sector, and our success in meeting Oekom’s sustainability criteria, which covers a range of social, ethical and environmental issues. The rating means that our shares will qualify for ecologically and socially based investment by Oekom’s clients.
Ethibel Pioneer & Excellence
We have been selected for inclusion in the Ethibel Pioneer and Ethibel Excellence Investment Registers since 10 June 2004 (recently reconfirmed on 12 June 2009) and have been monitored regarding our CR profile since then.
