Awards and recognition
We continue to engage with the socially responsible investment (SRI) community through our participation in the main global sustainability indices and by responding to SRI analysts' enquiries.
We have been included in the FTSE4Good index since 2003. The index measures the performance of companies that meet globally recognised corporate responsibility standards, and facilitates investment in those companies.
Dow Jones Sustainability indexes
We have been represented in both the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World), and the Dow Jones Sustainability Europe Index (DJSI Europe) each year since 2005. These list the top 10% and 20% of companies for sustainability from the mainstream indices.
NYSE Euronext and Vigeo ESG Indices
We are included on three CR indices that have been developed by Vigeo, a European rating agency, in partnership with the global financial markets operator, NYSE Euronext.
- Vigeo World 120 index, which includes the 120 most advanced sustainability performing companies at the global level.
- Vigeo Europe 120 index, which includes the 120 most advanced sustainability performing European companies.
- Vigeo United Kingdom 20 index, which includes the 20 most advanced UK companies based on their sustainability performance.
Oekom Corporate Rating
We have been awarded a 'Prime' rating by Oekom research. This recognises our status as a leading organisation within our sector, and our success in meeting Oekom's sustainability criteria, which covers a range of social, ethical and environmental issues.
Ethibel PIONEER and Ethibel EXCELLENCE Investment Registers
Provident is included in the Ethibel PIONEER and Ethibel EXCELLENCE investment registers. Our inclusion in these registers is based on an assessment process which evaluates company performance against a range of CSR parameters, including human rights, human capital, the environment, social impact, market ethics and good governance, and comprises consultation with the stakeholders that are relevant to the company.
Carbon Disclosure Project
During 2014, we made our eighth annual submission to the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP). The CDP provides 767 institutional investors representing US$92 trillion in assets with information relating to the way we manage the risks and opportunities associated with climate change. The CDP achieves this by asking companies to respond its questionnaire which seeks to elicit information on the significant risks and opportunities presented by climate change and company management of shareholder concerns about the impact of these issues on company value. This information is then shared with the signatory institutional investors.
